Fanfare Magazine / Nov-Dec 2004 WANT LIST My list is, as usual, self-explanatory. I found it difficult, though, not to honor Michael Tilson Thomas’s Mahler. It is pleasing to see a young drummer like Ari Hoenig make his own original, fresh sounding bebop records; I’d also like to pay tribute to his pianist, Jean-Michel Pilc. Those who want to hear the two in a trio context are advised to look for Welcome Home (Dreyfus FDM 36630-2). The Hank Jones trio album is not only a wonderfully realized project; it might also be brother Elvin Jones’s last recording. BACH Ich habe genug, BWV 82.
