William Ash has been on the NY jazz scene since the late 1980s, when he studied with Barry Harris. William appeared frequently with the late Clarence "C" Sharpe, who was an enormous influence on him. William can be heard on record on the Project G-7 Tribute to Wes Montgomery, alongside Kenny Burrell, Gene Bertoncini, Kevin Eubanks, Jack Wilkins, and Rodney Jones. William shared the stage with Jimmy Ponder and Louis Hayes at Birdland, in another Wes Montgomery tribute concert. William recorded with Japanese star Yoichi Kobayashi on the highly successful Viillage Bebop All-Stars quintet record, and subsequently toured Japan. William has appeared at Smalls for regular engagements over a period of seven years, variously in the company of Frank Hewitt, Gerald Cannon, Willie Jones III, Paul Gill, Mark Taylor, the late Bubba Brooks, and the late Bobby Forrester.
